Flor Giusti, LCSW-C, Director, Adelante Familia, a bilingual program that provides domestic violence victim support and counseling, crisis intervention, and abuser intervention to Spanish-speaking immigrant families in Baltimore. Flor has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore (UMAB) and a degree in Clinical Psychology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, her country of origin. She has over 20 years of experience in clinical mental health work, including work with dually diagnosed patients (mental health and substance abuse). Flor started her domestic violence work in the Baltimore Latino community in1996, offering educational workshops. Shortly thereafter, she and Blanca Picazo (see below) started a women’s support group, which evolved and eventually became Adelante Familia. Kedrick Griffin, Men Can Stop Rape (MCSR). Kedrick facilitates the Men of Strength (MOST) Club with young men in Washington, DC, a program that he helped develop for MCSR. She is currently employed by Catholic Charities in the Parish Partner Program as a Montgomery County Coordinator. Mildred D. Muhammad, Executive Director, After the Trauma, Inc. Ms. Muhammad is a domestic violence survivor with a story to tell the world. Many people know her first and foremost by her former husband, John Allen Muhammad, the convicted and now executed DC sniper who terrorized the Washington DC metro region in late 2002. Peter Musser, Ph.D., Abuser Intervention Program (AIP) Leader and Trainer Dr. Musser received his Doctorate in Human Services Psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in 2001. Since that time, he has worked as an AIP clinician conducting groups and individual treatment and recently completed working on a NIAAA grant as a research associate at UMBC and the House of Ruth Gateway Project. Donald Pfouts, Harford County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team. Don serves as a Pastoral Care Pastor at Mountain Christian Church in Joppa, Maryland; he has a Masters degree in Christian Counseling and Psychology and is currently completing his Ph.D. His professional positions include 21 yrs in Baltimore County law enforcement, 17 years of which were served as a Criminal Investigator in cases of spousal abuse, domestic violence, and sex crimes. Blanca Picazo, Assistant Director of Adelante Familia. Ms. Picazo has a Masters in Intercultural Communications from UMBC. She has extensive work experience in the Latino community in Baltimore City as an advocate for women and community members. Rabbi David Rose is Founder and Director of JDiscover. He was ordained at The Jewish Theological Seminary. After serving pulpits in Tampa FL, Mercer Island WA, and Potomac MD, Rabbi Rose is focusing his rabbinate on opening gateways to Jewish wisdom and identity. Rabbi Rose serves as Chairman of Jewish Women International Clergy Taskforce on Domestic Abuse. Since 1993, he has been at the forefront of Jewish efforts to end domestic abuse. He has trained more than 100 clergy in recognizing and responding to domestic abuse, and he has counseled hundreds of women toward safety and new lives. His views are featured in the documentary film, “When the Vow Breaks.” In 2004 he was awarded a “Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition” and the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse’s “Community Service Award” for these efforts.
