As many of you know, we usually learn from several domestic survivors who speak in a panel at each of our conferences. This year, because of our focus on domestic abuse “on our doorsteps,” we are going to hear from two faith communities as survivors.
- Our close-by neighbor The Peoples Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring will explore the murder that occurred on their doorsteps—the impact, the responses, and the longer-term effects.
- Our neighbor group in Virginia The Peaceful Families Project will share their experience in responding to a heinous murder in a Muslim community in New York.
Questions To Ponder:
- Could these murders have been prevented?
- Who knew about the risk?
- Is the guilt we feel justified?
- What does our faith tell us about how to care for each other during these frightening experiences?
