Guiding Lights is an outreach program of the Interfaith Community Against Domestic Violence (IFCADV). The goal is to create a networking group of liaisons between the IFCADV and individual congregations.
Every faith community is invited to designate one person to be a Guiding Light—a domestic violence resource contact in that congregation--for one year.
If you would like to represent your faith community as a Guiding Light, IFCADV requests that each candidate purchase an individual membership to the Interfaith Community Against Domestic Violence for $35 to help defray the cost of the Guiding Lights program. Keep the Guiding Lights informed by email about education and training opportunities, news, events, and resources that are available to faith communities in their efforts to serve congregants whose lives touched by domestic abuse; and
-
Provide four training opportunities to Guiding Lights about domestic abuse and how faith communities can respond to and prevent domestic abuse.
During the year, each Guiding Light will:
-
Publicize the information from IFCADV to their congregation's professional staff, leadership, and members, via newsletters, e-lists, printed and verbal announcements during services, bulletin boards, etc.; and
-
Serve as a resource to their congregation for information and referral for domestic abuse.
